May is a special month for the Catholic Church. It is the month we pay homage to our Blessed Mother Mary for her unique role in the history of salvation as the Mother of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, conceived without Sin. Young Virgin Mary, by her own free will, agreed to bring the “Word made flesh”, into the world. (John 1:14)
Motherhood is a precious gift to be appreciated, honored and celebrated. This Sunday, we honor and Celebrate all Moms, those who are here with us and those who have gone to be with our Lord. May God bless you always as you have blessed us with life, lessons and love. Fr Dennis and the parish staff wish you all a very Happy Mother’s Day!
This Sunday, I also wish to introduce Sister Karen Marie Lanigan who graciously accepted our invitation to work with us part-time as Liturgical Coordinator. She is a Franciscan Sister of the Sacred Heart with the St Francis Convent in Frankfurt, IL. Before Holy Spirit, Sister, served as Director of RE at St Paul the Apostle in Joliet, and as the RE Director and Pastoral Associate at St Joseph Parish in Peru, IL.
Sister Karen also worked as a School Teacher, Religious Educator, Catholic School Principal and Administrator; and was the Director of Postulants and Novices at the St Francis Convent for several years. The Franciscan Sisters’ Ministry is centered on “awakening hope and doing works of neighborly love”. I am sure you will notice Sr Karen’s warm personality when you meet her. She enjoys greeting parishioners and visitors with a big smile.
On the journey,
Fr. Dennis G. Lewandowski
