Tenth Sunday of Ordinary Time

There is an old saying most people agree with: "Change is the only constant in life". That has surely been the case for many people I know and for me. In general, we experience change throughout our lives. Some changes are expected, like the changes we anticipate with every season of the year. Some changes are planned for, like when people choose to change jobs or move to a different city.

Sometimes unexpected changes occur and bring about confusion and fear, so we pause, and look to the Lord for guidance. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Our parish community has experienced many changes in the past twenty years. In preparation for the upcoming 20th Anniversary of Holy Spirit Catholic Community, we are gathering pictures and mementos of parish life activities to celebrate the past. We are also putting together a calendar with monthly events for a year-long birthday celebration which will start this August when everyone is back from their summer vacations.

I believe there is much to look forward to for the future of our parish. We are a caring and vibrant community that comes together to worship and grow rich in our faith and build a stronger relationship with God. We respect our Catholic traditions and strive to serve all brothers and sisters under God's care with humility and compassion. Let us gather in intention as a parish community to do all we can do to usher in the next 20 years.

On the journey,
