It pleases me to introduce Sister Catherine Stewart to Holy Spirit Catholic Community. She recently joined our parish as the Pastoral Associate and will collaborate with me to continue fostering a sense of community; direct pastoral services and will also assist with the overall management of the parish. Sister Catherine enjoys nature, she grew up on a farm in Nokomis, IL, with two brothers (twins) and a younger sister. She enjoys visiting with her mother Lois and enjoys visiting with her siblings at the farm, especially during harvest time.
Sister Catherine says she knew that she wanted to become a Nun from a very young age, but she waited until after she had obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, to become a Dominican Sister of Springfield IL. At that time, Sister had already started teaching which is something she always wanted to do. She says, “playing school was one of my favorite activities as a child”, and when you ask her to share a memory from her teaching years her face lights up with a smile.
Throughout her career, Sister has taught Primary, Junior High, High School, and worked as a School Administrator K-8 for several years before becoming an associate professor at Mount Mercy and Blackburn Colleges, and at Marian University in Fond du Lac, WI until earlier this year.
Please join me in giving Sister Catherine a warm welcome to our parish!

Our Dominican Motto is "To praise, to preach and to bless!" I'm looking forward to meeting each of you so that together we can encourage each other to praise a God, who loves us, to preach not only by word but through our actions and to bless each other through our mutual "respect, inspiration, compassion and humility."
Blessings! - Sister Catherine
