***All food donations may now be dropped off beginning the weekend prior to the date we serve! Thanks to one of our generous parishioners we have an industrial cooler in the parish kitchen as well as a large cart for dry goods. Thank you for your generosity!
What does this ministry/group do?
Hesed House's mission is to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, and give people the chance to hope again. The ministry works with the Hesed House Shelter Programs, and Traditional Living Community in Aurora. Holy Spirit is responsible to supply the food, and the volunteers to prepare, and serve one dinner, prepare for evening shelter, and prepare for breakfast one evening every other month.

Parishioners high school age and older
What volunteer opportunities are there?
Food donations, drivers, and on-site volunteers to: prepare, serve, and cleanup for dinner, 2nd shift to prepare for overnight shelter, 3rd shift to prepare for breakfast and helps guest with their lockers and the “store”.
Breakfast and second shift (8:30-11:00 pm) volunteers are greatly needed!!!!
We will be preparing and serving three meals at Hesed House, on the dates listed above, from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning. Please consider donating food items and/or volunteering to work a shift. Food donation sign-up sheets are located in the Narthex.
Volunteers are also needed to transfer food from the church to Hesed House and to prepare and serve meals. To volunteer at Hesed House you can contact Terri Keckler or follow directions below to sign-up on line. Food transport shift (Wednesdays): pick-up from HSCC between 3:45pm and 4:45pm and take to Hesed House; shift ends at 6:00pm (on assigned Wednesdays).
- Dinner shift (Wednesdays): 5:30pm - 8:30pm
- Second shift (Wednesdays): 8:30pm -11:00pm
- Breakfast shift (Thursdays): is 4:00am -7:00 am.
What is the time commitment? When do they meet/serve?
The fourth Wednesday/Thursday every other month for approximately 5 hours.
What skills are required?
None. However, please wear only closed toe shoes when volunteering to protect against burns, injuries, etc.
